The Decisive Moment

I was talking photography with my amazing friend Lauren on Friday and was trying to explain Henri Cartier-Bresson’s “decisive moment”, which was integral in my training as a photographer and is foundational in my shooting style.  Bresson’s words are inspiration to me and speak of the beauty of capturing life.  As Bresson says, “there is a decisive moment in everything.”

The decisive moment, it is the
simultaneous recognition, in a fraction
of a second, of the significance of an
event as well as the precise organization
of forms which gives that event
its proper expression…

…an expression that life itself offers you…craved to seize the whole essence…
