A major theme of the work I do whether coaching or leadership development is choice. I call it the “Choice Card.” Where in life are we handing over our Choice Card and making ourselves a victim to whomever or whatever we hand our card over to? It’s a shift from being unconscious and letting others or circumstance rule us to being intentional about our choices.
It’s a shift to living on purpose.
I say “handing over our Choice Cards.” Sometimes it’s as simple as leaving our choices out on the table and letting others walk by and swipe them. Because we’re not paying attention, they are easy to take. Sometimes we want to avoid a person or situation so we willingly hand over our choices. Sometimes we’re afraid of being vulnerable, or being ourselves, of standing for what we believe, and we silently slide our choices away.
No matter how it happens, when we’re not intentional about choosing based on what matters most to us, we are living without intention. We are like a train trying to move off of its rails. Our power is lost, we’re bogged down, we’re going to crash, and there isn’t a path for forward movement.
We are potential at a standstill. Stuck.
Where are your choice cards? Where are they left lying on the table? Where are you handing them over? Where are you feeling pain or disconnection?
Take back your Choice Cards and choose with intention.
Live on Purpose.
